We're a Chilean rock group based in Santiago who's members are Daniel Duhart (vocals, guitar), Miguel Gatica (vocals, drums) and Javier Duhart (vocals, bass guitar).
Since our beginnings back in 1988 we've always felt the need to write and perform our own songs. They are generally about our vision of life, the world itself, and the future. Hence, the meaning of our name ARKA (ARK in English): a ship that sails through rough and stormy seas in search of new horizons.
As well as rock and pop, we like to experiment with other musical styles, for example bossanova.
We feel that music is a vehicle in which we can express our feelings, life experiences, ideas, beliefs, values and principles. It is an activity that surrounds us and has an important place in our lives.
In 2000 we released the album El Momento (The Moment) which portrays current world issues and tries to answer some of the questions that arise.
We're currently finishing a new album with 14 songs, which will include an advance of a future album titled En Busca de la Ciudad Perdida (In Search of the Lost City), which will be a concept album telling a story song after song, incorporating at the same time some elements of the Latin-American culture.
